A year and a half after confirming her split from her baby daddy Cordae, Naomi Osaka has revealed that she has a new boyfriend! Speaking to the press at the Mubadala DC Open in Washington, the four-time Grand Slam champion casually mentioned that she is in a relationship and that her boyfriend is from the city.
Former world No. 1 Osaka started dating rapper Cordae in 2019. The couple welcomed their daughter Shai in July 2023, but after some time, rumors of a split began circulating as fans noticed the absence of joint appearances and social media posts from the pair.
In early January 2025, Osaka finally confirmed the breakup in a social media post, and since then, Cordae has rarely, if ever, been mentioned in connection with her publicly.
After reaching her first Washington semifinal in three appearances, following a hard-fought 4-6 6-4 6-3 victory over Elisabetta Cocciaretto, Osaka surprised everyone by casually dropping a hint about her new boyfriend during an interview with Tennis Channel. Asked about the special connection she feels with Washington, Osaka, wearing a fuchsia version of her floral Wimbledon look, responded without much hesitation:
“I think, obviously, I don’t know if I’m supposed to say partner or my boyfriend. His family’s from here. He grew up here a little bit.”
“Where in the DMV did he grow up?” the interviewer asked. “Virginia, Maryland, or the District?”
“Wait, I’m failing the test. Wait. He told me multiple times. No, for sure… in the District, in D.C.? Yeah, for sure that,” Osaka responded.
On Saturday, Osaka is set to face Alexandra Eala in the semifinals of the Mubadala DC Open.
