Serena Williams wrote a love poem, should stick to playing tennis

It’s really nice of Serena Williams to share her thoughts and feelings on her official website, I’m all for interaction with your fans. It’s also nice that she wrote a love poem! But after reading it, I just hope she won’t quit playing tennis for becoming a poet.

Have u been in love before
So much you want to cry
Have u been in love before
So much u never wanna die
Because if you do
U won’t be with him

Have u felt love before
Love that is pure
Have u felt love before
Love that makes u so sure
Of yourself
Of your body
Of your mind

Have u loved someone so
That u could trust them
Have u loved someone so
That u don’t just lust for them
But instead u gush for them
U are open for them
You are free with them

Have you ever loved someone
So much that you want to spend every second with them
Have you ever loved someone
So much that you would do anything for them
U would beg, borrow, and steal
You would cook clean wheel and deal

Have you ever loved so much
You wanted to stand outside and shout it to the world?
Have u ever loved so much
You forgot everything any other man had told you
All you want is for your love to hold you
And when you are wrong he’s man enough to scold you
But with dignity and respect
He keeps u
With love and graciousness he’s deep to you.

Love is powerful.
Love is strong
If you have a love like this
You can never go wrong.
Love with an open heart
Like a brand-new start
And love will keep you

Well, maybe the next one will be better. But then, writing is not always about writing well, but about expressing yourself, and Serena succeeded in that. What do you think about Serena’s love poem?

  1. As a reader, I find it brings together everything I hate the most: bad grammar, email abbreviations and cheap sentiment. As a poet, I find it makes my head spin. Please…no more.

  2. Serena is great at tennis; lousy at poetry. It reads like something a love struck Forrest Gump would write.
