Blue lace, happy face: Aga Radwanska makes dominant start at Indian Wells

Agnieszka Radwanska against Alison Riske - Indian Wells

OK, maybe I’m just exhausted after a frustrating week, but I find this title innovative 🙂 And I apologize for not having a photo to justify the title! 🙂 Anyways, Agnieszka Radwanska made an imposing start to her Indian Wells campaign with a straightforward 6-3 6-1 victory over Alison Riske in the second round.

The seventh-seeded Pole raced to a 5-0 lead in the first set, and even though Riske answered by taking three consecutive games, the favorite finished the job in the ninth game. In the second set Aga again quickly distanced from her opponent, going 4-0 up and never really looking back.

Regarding tennis fashion this was also an important match, not only because it was a battle of two Lotto representatives, but also because Aga finally launched her lace dress that we first saw in December last year and have since been speculating when we would get to see it in action.

Lotto Spring Victoria lace dress - blue

You have to agree that the dress is quite shocking, but since Aga opted for the blue version, and not black, and since on the court it turned out that the lace is not taking over the item, I declare this a fashion hit! Now I see that the piece is available in Europe (surely will be in the USA as well soon), and it’s official name is the Lotto Spring Victoria Dress.

For those preferring separates, the world No.44 Riske’s blue Lotto Spring Victoria Tank also deserves all the compliments, paired with the black Lotto Spring Victoria Skirt that has side pleats and floral mesh trim.

And now I have a small surprise. Fellow blogger Ashley of African Tennis Now is spending this Friday and Saturday at Indian Wells and she’ll deliver her reports here on Women’s Tennis Blog. Those will be Ashley’s first contributions here, so I can’t wait to see how it goes. Stay tuned!

  1. Haha I knew you’d make a post about the lotto outfits! 😀 I love them, they’re gorgeous, and I hope they’re available in the us soon.
That’s great about having a contributor! Looking forward to reading the posts! 🙂

  2. Ga, I’m glad I didn’t disappoint 🙂 Sure they will be available in the US soon. And I’m glad you agree with me that the collection turned out to be good, at least actually its blue section. Let’s wait and see if Aga will look like a go-go dancer in the black dress. 😛

  3. Lol, well at least the black one is versatile? 😛 I was worried this dress would look too much like that old lotto dress Aga and Bartoli used to wear a lot (the 2012 one that came in purple or red), but it has way nicer details, and the separates are great 🙂

Will you be doing a fashion retrospection for this tournament? We might be seeing more new outfits from the top nike and adidas girls 🙂

  4. Haha the min I saw aga’s i dress I thought about this blog 😀 I guess this is the green dress that i thought they’d debut at aus open after seeing that photo shoot with all of their tennis players

  5. Ga, you mean multi-purpose? 🙂 I’m actually not planning to do a fashion review for IW, but I will write a March fashion overview for the WTA and IW will naturally be the major part of it. So stay tuned for my contribution to the WTA website 😉

Sru, green? 😀 Maybe I should run a “what color is the dress” poll on the blog 😀

  6. lol blue/ green dress ( i see green and gold 😛 ) and btw what do you think about this colour for that dress and their decision to debut it at indian wells? when i first saw this I thought they recycled another one of the boring dresses she used to wear Until i paid more attention . I was expecting her to wear orange version of this dress Which I saw online and it said she’d wear it at IW

  7. Sru, about the decision to debut the dress at IW, I don’t consider it bad, it’s a big tournament, but to launch a design at IW and not at the AO, that’s awkward. And about the color, as long as it’s not the black one, I’m fine with it. I like the blue.

  8. Emman Damian, she’ll wear it again, I’m sure we’ll be seeing more of it.

Liz, I see this dress is getting good reviews. I will surely add it to my March favorites in my upcoming article for the WTA website.

  9. Marija, I am not absolutely sure she is officially sponsored by Lotto, but at least she had a nice Lotto outfit on against Halep at IW.
