On Sunday at the BNP Paribas Open, my photographer Jimmie48‘s schedule started with the coverage of 16-year-old Amanda Anisimova progressing into the fourth round with a 6-2 6-4 victory over ninth seed Petra Kvitova, ending the Czech’s 14-match winning streak. The stunning young American still hasn’t lost a set at the tournament and that’s not all, she absolutely slayed the post-match press conference.
Also in the third round, top seed Simona Halep toughed it out against Caroline Dolehide, 1-6 7-6(3) 6-2, fifth seed Karolina Pliskova eliminated Zhang Shuai 7-5 5-7 6-3, while French Open champion and sixth seed Jelena Ostapenko got stunned by Croatian Petra Martic 6-3 6-3. Moreover, we have some great photos of Maria Sakkari getting past Coco Vandeweghe 6-2 6-4.
Victoria Azarenka, two-time Indian Wells champion making a comeback, lost to US Open champion Sloane Stephens 6-1 7-5 in the second round, her first loss to the American in their four meetings. Also in the second round, Angelique Kerber and Ekaterina Makarova finished their match, with the German winning 3-6 6-4 6-2.
