In Saturday’s third round of the French Open, Maria Sharapova was ruthless against Karolina Pliskova, absolutely dominating the Czech in a match that lasted a minute less than an hour. Three other encounters also lasted about 60 minutes, as Garbine Muguruza brushed aside Samantha Stosur, Lesia Tsurenko upset Magdalena Rybarikova and Elise Mertens defeated Daria Gavrilova.
Petra Kvitova, on the other hand, played two tiebreaks, losing them both to exit the tournament at the hands of Anett Kontaveit. Angelique Kerber also played two tiebreaks in defeating Kiki Bertens.
Serena Williams eliminated Julia Goerges, Simona Halep bageled Andrea Petkovic in the second set to make the fourth round, Sloane Stephens won a three-setter against Camila Giorgi, and Caroline Garcia was victorious against Irina-Camelia Begu.
Our Jimmie48 made it to most of these matches, so we have plenty of photos from third-round action in Paris.
