Eight matches were played in Eastbourne on Wednesday, setting up the Nature Valley International quarterfinal field, and higher seeds prevailed in all encounters except for third seed Petra Kvitova who was forced to withdraw against Agnieszka Radwanska with a hamstring injury and ninth seed Elise Mertens who lost a grueling match against Aryna Sabalenka.
Top seed Caroline Wozniacki, second seed Karolina Pliskova, fourth seed Angelique Kerber, fifth seed Jelena Ostapenko, seventh seed Daria Kasatkina and eighth seed Ashleigh Barty are all through to the final eight of the Premier-level tournament.
