After posting that Johanna Konta changed her clothing sponsor from Asics to Ellesse at the start of the 2019 season, I was informed that Monica Puig, Kiki Bertens and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova will also wear new gear in the coming year.

Monica Puig used to be the sole representative of Ellesse on the WTA tour, but the Puerto Rican will wear Yonex from now on. The world No.53 is now in Auckland, getting ready to play the ASB Classic, and yesterday she was dressed in Yonex as she made cocktails with Victoria Azarenka during an off-court event at Mission Bay.

As you could see in my Saturday’s Brisbane photo gallery, ninth-ranked Kiki Bertens no longer represents Mizuno, as she was spotted practicing in Fila apparel, whose leading representative is Karolina Pliskova.

Not long ago, Sofibella honored Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova with her own line that she wore at the 2018 US Open, but the Russian is opening the 2019 season in Lacoste. In the first round of the Shenzhen Open on Sunday, Pavlyuchenkova defeated Ana Bogdan 6-0 6-1, wearing a plain black Lacoste Fall Dress.

Are you pleased with these new tennis fashion partnerships? TBH, I’m sad to hear that Puig will no longer wear Ellesse, since they were a wonderful match, I liked that Sofibella had a high-profile representative in Pavlyuchenkova and although I think Fila goes well with Bertens’ personality, I enjoyed seeing her in clothes that were not commonly seen on the WTA courts.

  1. I just saw Monica Puig wearing Ellesse during her 1R in Auckland against Bethanie Mattek-Sands. She’s a really good representative of the brand. Do you know when she’ll totally shift or did she cancel the move?

  2. Emman Damian, I also noticed that and was confused. She definitely wore Yonex off the court. Maybe on the court she’ll switch as of January 1st. :/ We’ll see soon.
