After her Roland Garros 2018 full-length bodysuit was deemed disrespectful of the game and the place by the French Tennis Federation, Serena Williams wore a Virgil Abloh tutu at the 2018 US Open and then decided to remove the skirt from her Nike Spring Player Dress for the 2019 Australian Open, making it a playsuit, another very atypical WTA look.
Definitely confirming that the green Nike dress playsuit is her outfit of choice for Melbourne, Serena Williams lost just two games in her opening match of the 2019 season, racing past Tatjana Maria in the first round 6-0 6-2 in 49 minutes. The match also finally resolved our Serena’s Aussie Open look discussion and we can say that the outcome is highly surprising. I expected that the tennis legend would show up in the Nike Spring Player Dress or in some different outfit, but to completely alter the dress was the last thing I expected. Serena never ceases to amaze us.
As you know, Serena’s outfit features a unique triangular back cutout rounded by stripes.
Another mandatory part of Serena’s post-pregnancy outfits are her compression stockings, which she wears for health reasons, because of her proneness to blood clots.
This is Williams’ first appearance at the Australian Open since 2017, when she won the tournament already about to months pregnant.
It looks like it’s too small and I’m not sure are the stripes most flattering
It would have been a cute dress, but I think this is nice as well.
Lala, I like the stripes.
SeVen, had she worn the skirt, she wouldn’t have surprised us, but both options are great, IMO. The standard dress would be more feminine, the shorts version is more memorable.
Let’s be real she looks snatched in this outfit. Body goals and she looks hot hot hot
She looks amazingggggggg ???????? this green shorts are shaping her curvy body… All the best to the GOAT ????
I need to know her shoes choices as well? Is she back with Nike Air Max Mirabella 3?
Don’t care for the outfit, but the GOAT is back!!! Her pink outfit that she wore in the doubles event with Francis Tiafoe was very cute and slimming. On another note, I need Mary Jo & Pam Shriver to brag on this chick that’s out there giving Halep a run for her money. That young lady can run down some balls and get plenty back; precision shot-making, as well. Who is she? She’s already taken a set off Halep. Great match, but I’m waiting on my girl, Queen Serena Williams.
Okay. Finally heard them call out her full name: Sofia Kenin/USA. Tell you what, they’d better pay close attention to this young lady. She’s got game! I was rooting for her. I like her hustle a lot.
looks terrible
Thank You Marija,
I saw a closer pic of the shoes:

It does look like a modified version of Air Max Mirabella 3!!
Ian, the shoes are not available. Nike says to follow the updates at their website.
Ian, here you can see the shoes even better: https://twitter.com/JJlovesTennis/status/1085911026275479553
‘Seizes’ to amaze you??? Uggg, it’s cease, ceases to amaze…
Okay, Boswella. I missed that “typo” myself (LOL). Great job! And all that pre-match talk about what a threat Genie Bouchard would be to Serena…hogwash! The GOAT steamrolled Genie in so little time. More to come, can’t hardly wait! The Queen is on her way to #24. And broadcasters, you need to emphasize the fact that Serena does indeed hold the Open Era title for the most slams. My goodness! You too, John McEnroe (although I love me some Johnny Mac!). You’re the best (John McEnroe) when it comes to speaking truth when commentating live. Loving that GOAT ad about Serena and Federer; long overdue, but much appreciated.
Boswella, I am sorry for the mistake, thank you for telling me. I’ve corrected it. I tend to make such typos, writing “too” instead of “two” and so on.
Totally ridiculous. Looks horrible. The dress is cute but this is for someone that is slim. The skirt would have ‘hid’ her not so perfect body! You can see her compression ‘undies’ trying to hold everything in.
