Luxembourg’s top-ranked player Mandy Minella gave birth to her second child, a baby girl Maya, on Decembar 12th. The 35-year-old WTA mom announced the news on social media by sharing the below pic and saying: “Welcome to this beautiful world Maya #weloveyou.”

This is the tennis star’s second daughter. Minella and her husband Tim Sommer first became parents in October 2017, to a girl named Emma Lina. It took Minella only three and a half months to resume her WTA career following pregnancy, but it was a bumpy ride in the beginning, as she completely lost form and the baby waking up at night was further disrupting her rhythm.

In a recent interview, Minella revealed that she plans to continue playing tennis professionally, even with two children to care for. Minella was supposed to hang up her racquet at the end of the 2020 season, but the COVID-19 pandemic prevented her from making a proper goodbye, so she wants to play again next year, ideally at the 2021 French Open.
