The International Tennis Federation has announced that Great Britain will host the 2022 Billie Jean King Cup Finals in Glasgow, Scotland. Teams will compete on indoor hard courts at the Emirates Arena from 8th to 13th November.

Great Britain had initially been set to miss out on this largest annual international team competition after defeat by the Czech Republic in a qualifier in April, but now Anne Keothavong’s team qualifies as host. The host nation will be joined by Australia, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Italy, Kazakhstan, Poland, Spain, Slovakia, Switzerland and USA in the 12-team event. The national teams will compete in four round-robin groups of three and winners of each group will progress into the semifinals.

Russian Tennis Federation, the 2021 Billie Jean King Cup champions, will not be able to defend their title this year, since their players are suspended from team competitions because of their country’s invasion of Ukraine.
