Last month, Universal Tennis announced the addition of over 40 events and four new countries to the 2022 UTR Pro Tennis Tour (PTT) calendar. The additions bring the annual total to more than 180 pro events through December in the Americas, Europe, and Asia/Pacific.
The PTT launched in January 2021 with a three-year investment of more than $20 million to provide players ranked 200-2000 valuable guaranteed matches and prize money. Every PTT event has a minimum USD 25K financial commitment.
The PTT continues to deliver value to aspiring pro players by providing opportunities to boost their earnings and improve their games. Players can get a sense of their level by competing in PTT events and developing their games in order to move up to the ATP/WTA and Grand Slam level.
Past PTT champions have included WTA and ATP players and rising juniors, including Taylor Townsend, Jenson Brooksby, Martin Damm, Aidan Kim, Alex Michelsen, Marcela Zacarias, Li Tu, and Pedro Cachin.
The new host countries for the PTT include India, Italy, Argentina, and the United Kingdom. Other countries that have hosted PTT events this year for the first time include Greece, Slovakia, the United Arab Emirates, and Brazil.
All PTT matches are live-streamed, with a deal announced earlier this year to move the live stream to Amazon Prime Video.
“I just love being able to play so many matches,” said 21-year-old pro Hurricane Tyra Black. “It’s an amazing thing against so many high-level players, getting to play lots of matches, having the live streams so that my coach can watch back home. I can replay them, watch them myself.”
