American Coco Gauff is set to make a stylish statement on courts with the release of the Twisted Net colorway of her signature New Balance Coco CG1 tennis shoe. The American teenager, who achieved her greatest career success at the French Open last year, is commemorating her return to Paris with a unique colorway that pays homage to both tennis and the Internet.
The ’90s-inspired unisex design of the Twisted Net CG1s contrast pastel blues and greens against a backdrop of classic white and black, creating a visually striking shoe that captures Gauff’s vibrant personality. The artistic interpretation of a tennis net symbolizes the 2022 Roland Garros finalist’s love for the sport, while the net itself warps into the shape of the world wide web logo, reflecting her passion for social media.
The previous edition of CG1s, the Fuzzy Ace, stood out with its dominant neon yellow hue, hairy suede upper and white leather details which all drew inspiration from tennis balls.
The Coco CG1 traditionally features details celebrating the young WTA star. Her signature is featured on the tongue and the lace jewel. Moreover, the right toe includes her quote “You can change the world with your racket” and the left toe includes the coordinates of the Pompey Park, tennis courts where she grew up playing tennis.
The distinctive looks are paired with the dynamic responsiveness of FuelCell cushioning and new Energy Arc technology, while a Fit Weave Lite woven upper provides a lightweight but supportive lockdown fit.
The NDure toe guard is specifically engineered to offer exceptional durability, ensuring long-lasting protection for the front of the shoes. Additionally, the NDurance rubber outsole technology is incorporated to enhance durability in areas prone to high wear. These features work together to maximize the lifespan of the shoes, allowing users to get the most out of their footwear investment.
Coco’s New Balance shoe has been picked by Tennis Warehouse’s playtesters as the top performer in the stability category. They just noted that women should choose a size that’s 1.5 sizes smaller than their usual size. As an illustration, if your standard women’s shoe size is 8, it is suggested that you select a size 6.5 for the Coco CG1.
