Two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova and her husband Jiri Vanek joyfully announced the forthcoming addition to their family on the early hours of New Year’s Day—anticipating the arrival of their baby in the summer of 2024.
Holding a baby onesie with the words “Courage, belief, pojd,” Kvitova shared happy news on Instagram with her partner:
On the first day of 2024 I wanted to wish you a Happy New Year and share the exciting news that Jiri and I will be welcoming a baby into our family this summer!
A year after getting engaged at Wimbledon, Kvitova and Janek got married in July 2023. The couple exchanged vows in a private ceremony hosted at the luxurious Oblik resort, a serene weekend escape situated near Prague.

Vanek’s role as Kvitova’s coach commenced during the 2016 off-season, succeeding his prior collaboration with Karolina Pliskova. Rumors regarding their relationship surfaced in June 2020, coinciding with Vanek’s temporary stay in Kvitova’s apartment. Notably, during this period, Vanek navigated a divorce from his wife, Marketa, with whom he shares two sons.
Kvitova initially dismissed the dating speculations during that period. However, in an interview with Blesk just before playing the 2021 US Open Series, she confirmed the true nature of her relationship with her coach. Reports suggest that their romantic involvement started in May 2021, during the Internazionali BNL d’Italia in Rome.
