Iveta Melzer (née Benesova) will join the long list of divorced Czech WTA players, as her marriage with fellow tennis pro Jurgen Melzer seems to be no more. Sportky.sk is reporting that the couple has been living separate lives.

Iveta and her Austrian husband, who also famously dated WTA star Dominika Cibulkova, got married in 2012 in Laxenburg, Austria, while they started dating somewhere in the period of their Wimbledon 2011 mixed doubles title run. The confirmation of their relationship came in November 2011.

After sixteen years of playing professionally, Iveta retired from tennis in August 2014 and has flirted with a career of a fashion blogger to some extent.

  1. Emman Damian, they also seemed happily married to me, but one can never know what’s going on behind closed doors. Iveta may well decide to come back. She’s still young and her fashion blogging career hasn’t really taken off haha.

  2. I thought at some point they are happily married tennis couple like Agassi-Graf. It’s so sad. We see a trend here among Czech tennis players. I hope they are happy being single again. That’s why I also notice that Barbora Strycova doesn’t use the long surname now. Well, I hope there’s a comeback for Iveta.

  3. I agree. I’m sensing a comeback maybe next year. I know she is still hungry for competition. She’s a great doubles player. Barbora and Iveta did make some waves before.
