Former WTA world No.1 Angelique Kerber teamed up with German soccer player Manuel Neuer to start a skincare line called Newkee, focused on sun damage protection.

Just weeks after her good friend Ana Ivanovic launched her own skincare line with products that are at least 92% natural, Kerber is joining her in the beauty industry with her own contribution to cosmetics market.
The three-time Grand Slam champion Kerber is entering the skincare niche as a person who has struggled with hyperpigmentation, having spent thousands of hours playing tennis in intense sun. While the WTA star’s dark spots on her face and arms led her to experiment with skincare formulas, her business partner Manuel Neuer’s experience in this area comes from the unfortunate fact that he has undergone three operations to remove skin cancer from his face.
Newkee’s essential unisex care offers the following products: day face cream SPF 15, body lotions (soft and intensive), sunscreen SPF 50+, lip balm SPF 30, body wash, shampoo, and hand cream. They are all 100% vegan, microplastic-free and perfume-free. Prices range from 6.95 EUR to 13.95 EUR.
The idea for this cooperation between Kerber and Neuer originated two years ago. It was a long process to formulate the products, and then develop recycled packaging, marketing strategy and distribution. Product development was done with Paedi Protect AG, a company that manufactures skin products dedicated to children.
The products are currently available in Europe, but Newkee is also looking forward to expanding to the North America and beyond.
Angelique Kerber and Ana Ivanovic are not the only WTA players with skincare brands. Naomi Osaka launched Kinlò last year, specifically intended for melanated skin tones, and Jessica Pegula developed Ready 24, dedicated to active individuals. (source: WTA)
