We’re continuing our Fashion Retrospections with New Balance‘s leading representative — Coco Gauff. The WTA world No.7’s style is colorful and youthful, as you will see in our overview of her 2022 apparel which included custom designs. Most importantly, this year she was honored by her clothing sponsor and launched her signature tennis shoe — Coco CG1.

At the Adelaide International 1 and 2, Gauff stood out in this colorful ombre New Balance Women’s Spring Tournament Print Tank paired with this New Balance Women’s Spring Tournament Skirt made from lightweight woven stretch fabric. The teenager carried her gear in Head tennis bags from her own Coco line. The Head Coco Court Bag Black/Mint is still available for purchase.
The 18-year-old completed the look with the New Balance 996v4 Women’s Shoes and orange manicure.
At the Australian Open, Gauff wore an orange skirt and a tight blue/purple ombre tank.
This colorblocked New Balance Women’s Spring Tournament Racer Tank was Gauff’s choice in Dubai and Doha. When she felt cold, Gauff layered it with a cute orange and purple zipper top.
At Indian Wells, Gauff sported a vibrant yellow crop top and white textured skirt. Her shoe is the New Balance WC 996 V4 D Yellow/Blue.
In doubles, Gauff also donned this black-and-white combo.
The Florida native’s Stuttgart kit included another bright ombre top, the New Balance Women’s Summer Tournament Printed Tank, combined with an all-over graphic print skirt, the New Balance Women’s Summer Tournament Skirt.
At the European clay-court tournaments, Gauff sported another outfit from the summer collection: the New Balance Women’s Summer Tournament Racer Tank and New Balance Women’s Summer Tournament Mesh Short.
At Roland Garros, where she reached both the singles and doubles final, the WTA player launched a ballerina-style dress featuring a printed purple top and a pleated see-through skirt.
The young American’s white Wimbledon attire was dominated by fishnet-inspired mesh.
In San Jose, Toronto and Cincinnati, Gauff went for a bold iridescent skirt and a daring crop top.
With this outfit the American also launched her signature tennis shoe — the New Balance Coco CG1. The Pompey colorway features a gradient section that ranges from vibrant apricot to purple. The sneaker draws inspiration from Coco’s first tennis court in her hometown of Delray Beach, Florida.
Coco picked up the racquet at the Pompey Park tennis courts, as her dad introduced her to the sport. His mantra is written on the right toe of the shoe: “You can change the world with your racket.” The WTA star’s signature is on the tongue and on the lace jewel, while the coordinates of the Pompey Park are along the rubber.
At the US Open, Gauff rocked a busy top with short fishnet sleeves and a see-through black chevron-patterned skirt. The second colorway of her Coco CG1 tennis shoe — DigiCoco — attracted a lot of attention in New York. The high-performance unisex sneaker is influenced by basketball silhouettes and ’90s aesthetics.
Playing doubles at the US Open, Gauff wore this red New Balance Women’s Fall Printed Tournament Dress.
At the end of the season, Gauff contrasted a black tennis skirt with purple and coral tanks. The looks were highlighted by her Coco CG1s in dark moonstone with violet shadow and electric red.

Loved her US Open fit! My favourite of the year of all players. A 90s throwback with ’20 contemporary. Hope to see more of this!
I’ve always found New Balance rather boring, but I love the designs for Coco
