It’s time for our first Grand Slam fashion overview in 2023! As always, major brands such as Nike, Adidas and Fila have the largest number of representatives, but we’re starting to have more diversity as several star players are now promoting new or lesser known apparel lines. Let’s have a look at the tennis fashion scene at the Australian Open.

The Nike Melbourne collection mostly combines green and light purple hues with a colorful abstract print that represents a topographic map.
As many as four WTA players are no longer wearing the Swoosh in 2023. Moreover, Nike’s top representative Naomi Osaka is absent because of pregnancy. Despite that, Nike continues to dominate the Tour.
Aryna Sabalenka looks stunning in the Nike Women’s Spring Slam Dress and NikeCourt Zoom NXT White/Earth/Citron Women’s Shoe.
Emma Raducanu is seen here in the Nike Women’s Spring Slam Tank and the rush fuchsia version of the Nike Women’s Spring Slam Skirt, an all-over pleated design with an integrated shortie. The 2021 US Open champion’s shoe of choice is the Nike Zoom Vapor 11, a new model that comes as a replacement for the React Vapor NXT.
World No.1 Iga Swiatek‘s new Asics kit is all about pastel tones, predominantly dusk violet and light orange. The Pole is rocking the Asics Women’s Spring Match Short, paired with the Asics Women’s Spring Match Graphic Tank.
The three-time Grand Slam champion Swiatek is also debuting Asics’ tennis shoe released in 2023: the Gel Resolution 9. We can see “Team Swiatek” and “Iga” written on the back.
Second seed Ons Jabeur represented Lotto in the Women’s Spring Tech I D2 Top and Spring Tech I D1 Short.
The new Adidas collection is made with yarn that includes captured industrial emissions. Maria Sakkari stands out in the Adidas Women’s Melbourne Tennis Crop Tank, a multicolor print design featuring an integrated bra with removable padding and racerback with keyhole cutout. The bold graphic is inspired by “our planet’s natural CO2 filters.” The Greek completes the look with the pure black Adidas Women’s Core Match Short.
Jessica Pegula‘s apparel includes the Adidas Women’s Melbourne Match Tennis Tank – Pink and a simple black skirt with a No.3 patch on it to honor American football player Damar Hamlin who suffered cardiac arrest during a game earlier this month (Hamlin plays for the NFL’s Buffalo Bills, owned by Pegula’s parents).
The WTA player ranked third in the world completes her outfit with the Adidas Barricade Blue/Violet/Mint Women’s Shoes.
Just like Sakkari, Liudmila Samsonova and K-Swiss also went for a crop top.
Moreover, Samsonova’s doubles outfit included a striped K-Swiss tank. The Russian’s doubles partner Veronika Kudermetova sported separates by Giorgio Armani — her fuchsia tank and skirt feature a bold touch of the monochromatic all-over animal print.
Former world No.1 Karolina Pliskova, Laura Siegemund and other Fila-sponsored players introduced the company’s Alley tennis collection.
On Pliskova we can see the Fila Women’s AO Merle Tank, a wide racerback design in a busy print, and the matching Fila Women’s AO Lou Skirt, featuring two-tiered pleats on just one side.
Laura Siegemund sports the Fila Women’s AO Elisa Tank that includes unconventional striping at chest and back and mesh inserts at the armholes for added breathability. Her Fila Women’s AO Cosima Skirt features a ruffled scalloped hem with contrast edging.
When it comes to footwear, both players are wearing a purple cactus flower / white / limelight palette of the Fila Axilus 2 Energized.
Leylah Fernadez is one of rare representatives of Lululemon in the tennis world. Moreover, the 2021 US Open finalist is the only player wearing Roger Federer’s On Running tennis shoes.
The model’s exact name is The Roger Pro and it is On’s first-ever tennis competition shoe, co-created with the ATP legend.
New Balance‘s Coco Gauff pairs a classic black skirt with a white tank featuring unique egg-shaped cutouts on the sides. The highlight of her look is definitely a new Neon Dragonfly colorway of the teenager’s signature New Balance CG1 tennis shoe.
Caroline Garcia promotes both the black and purple version of the Yonex Women’s Melbourne Dress. The collared design features a subtle floral pattern.
The Frenchwoman’s shoes are by New Balance, the 996v4 model.
Former Nike star Marta Kostyuk entered the year 2023 with a new 360 partnership with Wilson. The Ukrainian’s racquets, tennis shoes and clothing all bear the “W” logo.
Another lady in red is Camila Giorgi. The fashionable Italian promotes luxury sportswear Giomila fashion.
Donna Vekic started the new season with her own women’s line in partnership with Uomo Sport — Donna Sport.
Last year’s Australian Open runner-up Danielle Collins is seen wearing Alo Yoga apparel, but they are not officially her sponsor.
Sloane Stephens, joining Sofia Kenin as a representative of Free People Movement, wore a peach-colored pleated dress with a striped waistband. The item comes with matching fitted shorts to layer underneath.
Another pleated dress is offered by Lacoste, as we can see on Anett Kontaveit in Melbourne. The 2-in-1 piece features a covered zipper placket on the front and contrast binding at the armholes and collar.

Nike: colourful but too dominant and distracting.
Asics: bland, ugly and shapeless.
Adidas: I like Maria’s outfit and the crop top really suits her and I imagine it would be great in the hot weather, but probably not suitable for everyone.
K-Swiss: hard to see but looks quite nice
Fila: looks like someone has dropped the paint can.
New Balance: have never liked their stuff much, too plain and sporty.
Yonex: I like these classic looks
Wilson: Needs a better bra.
Giomila: I think Camila always looks great. These outfits probably wouldn’t suit everyone though.
Free People: Peach was never a good idea. With her skin tone Sloane would look better in a brighter colour – yellow, turquoise, bright pink.
Lacoste: like this classic look.
I love Sloane’s peach color outfit, so light and refreshing to look at.
Also Anett Lacoste dress is so chic and classy, very timeless piece you can wear.
Worst has to be as usual, Ostapenko top n skir, ughh recycling the same design, makes me wanna throw up

Right now two players are on court in the same combo of the overly busy Nike print (I guess they are wearing the dress version, though to me it looks very two-piecey and thus swappable). Looks silly when both players are dressed the same – why not offer two versions of the dress – pink front and teal front, maybe?
