Venus Williams won just one match in the 2020 season and had seven first-round exits, but on the tennis fashion front she continues to grow. The American’s activewear label EleVen released many new collections in these pandemic times and even spiced things up by partnering with K-Swiss later in the year. Let’s have a look at all Venus’ 2020 outfits as part of my Fashion Retrospections.
At the Australian Open, Williams debuted the EleVen Neon Dreams collection, in particular the Neon Dreams Zoom Dress that stands out with its vibrant contrast binding and power mesh overlay at chest and upper back.
At the next two events, Williams continued to promote the Neon Dreams collection, showing us floral tops — the Raceday Tank in Acapulco and Astrix Tee in Monterrey.
The Top Seed Open in Lexington was Williams’ most successful tournament this season, as she finally won one match, beating Victoria Azarenka in the first round, before falling to sister Serena in the second. The 40-year-old used the opportunity to present two red outfits from her Bold collection.
In her first-round match, Williams wore the EleVen Bold Raceday Tank and EleVen Bold Border Flutter Skirt, while in the second round the tennis legend introduced the EleVen Bold Dynamo Dress.
In mid-August, Williams launched the Wonder Woman collection, part of an initiative created by Warner Bros. to promote Wonder Woman 1984 (WW84). The superhero-inspired clothes all come in black and white with gold accents.
At the Western & Southern Open, Williams sported the Wonder Woman Zoom Tank Top and Wonder Woman Border Flutter Skirt. As you can see, the design of the tank is very similar to the Melbourne dress.
Just about two weeks after releasing the Wonder Woman collection, which would have been a perfect choice for the US Open, Williams surprised with the ultra feminine Shine collection. The sparkly new clothes featuring textural pops of foil application come in colors blush and cloudy indigo. During her first-round match, the tennis legend wore the powdery pink EleVen Shine Luminosity Skirt and Race Day Tank Top.
At the Internazionali BNL d’Italia, we saw a cloudy indigo outfit from the sparkly range — the EleVen Shine Equinox Top and Shine Border Flutter 13″ Skirt.
Williams closed the season at Roland Garros, wearing star-print leggings from the Wonder Woman collection and a black drape top over a white long-sleeve shirt.
EleVen is famous for rolling out a large number of collections every year, so even in the off-season of this corona year we got two surprises by Venus: the Rib range, dominated by bold blue and red hues, and the exclusive activewear and shoe capsule in partnership with K-Swiss.
Because the pandemic disrupted the tennis season, the Geometric and Glam collections didn’t see the light of the day. Remember that I showed them to you in my preview of Venus’ fashions for the first half of 2020?
What do you say about Venus’ 2020 in terms of style? Do you have any favorite outfits? My favorite is the Australian Open dress. It’s simple, yet edgy with that subtle opening at chest and pops of yellow.
