Naomi Osaka’s Nike tennis dress for 2021 US Open

Two-time US Open champion Naomi Osaka will debut a custom Nike tennis dress as she steps on court for her title defence in Flushing Meadows.

While other WTA stars sponsored by NikeCourt will wear the varsity-style ’80s-inspired collection, the Japanese player will rock a custom neon yellow dress. The vibrant-colored item features contrast black trims. The deep V-back includes a horizontal band on the widest section to provide a secure fit.

I’ve already talked about Naomi’s new Nike Air Zoom GP Turbo tennis shoes. They feature references to the four-time Grand Slam champion and her life: from the “N-O” initials on the tongue and heel to the flags of Japan and Haiti to represent her heritage.

  1. Fluorescent, high-light marker yellow. The opponent will have trouble picking up the yellow-green tennis balls as they will blend in with the color of Naomi’s dress.

  2. I quite like the dress and it will suit Naomi, but good point about the tennis balls. Also, why do they use a model for tennis clothes who is so skinny she couldn’t possibly be a tennis player?

  3. Marija, I would like your fashionista opinion on the golf wear line SwingDish , particularly on my favorite player Thidapa “Jasmine” Suwannapura. If you check the website of the company I believe tennis players could wear this as well and I believe Swingdish could market their line to include tennis players as well. The line was started by the wife of famous US country singer Toby Keith.

  4. Jim, tennis and golf often go hand in hand when it comes to apparel. A lot of companies, especially those smaller ones, create clothes for golf and tennis. Lucky in Love comes to mind first.

I checked out the website. Have a look at their Flutter line https://swingdish.com/pages/flutter. The print looks very similar to Nike’s 2020 Australian Open clothes. I’ve browsed their website a bit, the outfits look good, just as your favorite player 🙂

  5. Thanks, Marija. I always value your opinion. The flutter line looks colorful, practical and comfortable. I think as with tennis, the companies not only try to appeal to the professional golfers and tennis players, but also to the recreational and club players as well. I will check out Lucky in Love as well. Thanks again.

  6. Jim, I’ve tried out three complete Lucky in Love outfits and I can tell you that they are really good. The fabrics are soft and good-quality, items look even better in person. Their style may be a bit more extravagant, but they do offer a range of more subdued looks as well and they are definitely very unique.
