We’re less than a week away from the 2019 French Open and Nike is releasing a floral and beehive-inspired collection, … with an addition of a few nature-loving skeletons. The first WTA player to show us the new clothes is Simona Halep, who won her first and so far only Grand Slam title last year in Paris.
I call this Nike Summer Player Print Top a faux polo, because in the specifications I’m reading that it features a sewn-down collar made of striped rib trim. The repeating bee print is Nike’s reference to royalty and power. A great functionality of the top is a back zipper that provides easy on and off.
At first glance it seems that the collection is black and white, but it’s not. This top combines black and oxygen purple, while it also exists in sail with oxygen purple.
I
While Maria Sharapova’s Nike dress for Roland Garros (which we’ll probably never see the Russian wear, as she’ll not play in Paris) features large blossoms that celebrate the classic tradition of French florals, Halep’s dark floral Nike Summer Flex Player Skirt draws inspiration from traditional French tapestries.
When it gets cold in Paris, Halep will sport this Nike Summer Cover Up Jacket, a slightly cropped hooded design featuring mesh lining. To protect Halep from the sun, Nike created both the Unisex Summer Heritage Floral Hat, featuring sweat-wicking headband and adjustable back strap, and the Nike Summer Heritage Floral Visor with the same properties.
NikeCourt’s Instagram story also reveals that Halep will wear these light purple Nike Air Zoom Vapor X Clay Shoes.
Besides bees and flowers, the new collection also features a toile-inspired skeleton print, such as this Nike Summer Seasonal Tank and these Nike Summer Flex Shorts. When you look closely, you can see skeletons holding hands, playing tennis, or sitting under a tree holding a flower. Weird.
What do you think about the new collection? Bees, flowers, skeletons, what do you prefer?
All these new Nike clothes are available at both Tennis Warehouse USA and Tennis Warehouse Europe.

Simona’s outfit is horrible. Both patterns are pretty blah and mixed together they are really unattractive. The skeleton one looks ok from a distance, maybe with a plain top or skirt, but up close, why skeletons? Trying to be edgy and failing completely.
I prefer none of the above. What in the world is Nike thinking?
Love the toile print! Would be nice with a bright color added!
I like it! reminds me of dior 🙂
The skeletons outfit it’s adorabile!!!!
Copied gucci with the bees on the clothing lol and just looks ugly. I hope Serenas outfit is another show stopper.
Can anyone share which Gucci and Dior outfits Nike copied? I see people mention that a lot.
No to all of this.
Lisl von Schlaf, oh my, it really looks exactly like Gucci.
These designs are clearly disturbing. And a desperate attempt at being innovative…

I’m sorry, but half of Nike’s outfits are downright ugly. These ones no different (well, apart from the season tank top, which does not offend my eyes, despite of the skeletons)
I’ve seen what Serena I’d going to wear. She’s got a Virgil design again a bright blue nike shoe as well. I would post photos but I don’t know how to upload.
I’m partially revising my previous comment. I’m now watching the women’s qualifiers at Roland Garros and the bee top with the plain black skirt work pretty well. I just hope nobody will pair the bee top with the floral skirt, as in the pictures above.
I don’t like them at all; if someone gives me one like this, it will be going to Good Will. I feel sorry for Naomi Osaka who has to put these unflattering outfits on; the color ( Black & White) and design(noisy) are not complimentary to her perfectly tanned skin color.
AWFUL!!! I’m watching Eastbourne now, and Kyle Edmund and Taylor Fritz in the floral shirt, bee shorts and yellow sneakers – YUCK. What were the designers thinking??? DREADFUL.
