After showing you Garbine Muguruza in her Adidas dress ready for the 2022 US Open, let’s see the brand’s WTA representatives Jessica Pegula and Daria Kasatkina in the vibrant new collection designed by contemporary South African designer Thebe Magugu.
Adidas is famous for striving to end plastic waste in the oceans and cease the use of virgin polyester. This latest tennis collection to be debuted at the season’s final Grand Slam introduces a new concept: a comfortable gender-neutral fit. The top-performance apparel includes UNITEFIT technology, created and tested on a range of sizes and genders to provide comfortable unisex style with inclusive sizing.
We can see this concept in practice on Jessica Pegula. The American WTA player paired the Adidas New York 2-in-1 Tights, a combination of 7/8 leggings and a separate skirt, with the Adidas Unitefit New York Sleeveless Top, a unisex product featuring a graphic inspired by a woman dancing.
Daria Kasatkina, who recently made a life-changing decision to come out about her relationship with figure skater Natalia Zabiiako, said about the new collection:
“Hiding who you are and who you love is the hardest thing in the world. Being at peace with yourself and those around you is one of the most important things in life. For this reason, I want to use my platform to inspire positive change in the sport and pave the way for future tennis athletes to be their true, authentic selves, no matter what challenges they face.”
The promotional images show the world No.10 Kasatkina in the white version of the Adidas Unitefit New York Printed Crew. The 2022 Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic champion paired it with a solid black skirt, probably the Adidas Core Gameset Match Skirt.
The collection also contains Adidas New York Dress in two colorways (semi pulse lilac and black/grey/impact yellow), the New York 2-in-1 Tights in white, and the New York Y-Tank in a variety of colors and sizes (semi pulse lilac/white, semi pulse lilac/black and bright orange/white). The range also offers a new iteration of the Avacourt tennis shoe, which launched earlier this year, in a semi pulse lilac colorway.
